“Following a long line of great singer/songwriters ranging from Sam Cooke to Billy Joel, to Adele and beyond…She fully embodies her emotions when she sings, melting belts and cries, whispers and croons together with the perfect mix of power and personality.” (Atwood Magazine)

There's an immediate charm and elegance to Detroit-based artist Sara Marie Barron's,
Voice, which is evident on her new single/lyric video “Three Hours” (out August 5,2022)  from her upcoming EP Angel Numbers, due out August 19 2022.  And that voice, along with her engaging stage presence, has cultivated a poise between the swoon of soul, the charisma of jazz, and the effervescence of pop.

One can say, without hyperbole, that singing has really been Barron's life. That raw talent developed into artistry, and eventually that artistry accelerated the development of her definitive vision; for Barron, in the four years following her debut album, Sad, But True (2018), that vision distinctively took shape. 2020’s sophomore record, Existential Glam, found Barron inspired to pursue and perfect a fusion of her foundational inspirations, aspiring to bridge the grace and gusto of 60's soul (Etta James, Nina Simone) up to contemporary influences from the indulgent melodrama of 90's pop stars (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera) and recent R&B/neo-soul dynamos (Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse, particularly).

Though Barron’s upcoming EP, Angel Numbers, is an extension of her artistic growth, she stays grounded through her insistence of having live instruments at the root of the songs. The EP’s four tracks were written and recorded in an old church-turned-studio called Willis Sound, about 40 minutes outside of Detroit’s city limits. Barron brought her songbook and longtime collaborators Mario Sulaksana (keys, production), Junho Kim (bass), Jonathan Muir Cotton (bass), Tariq Gardner (drums) to the studio and Angel Numbers was born. Producer and engineer, Samuel Peters, helped bring Barron’s artistic vision to life by melding the live instrumentation with lush soundscapes and electronic production. The result is a collection of songs that feel both nostalgic and ahead of their time.

Lyrically, Barron explores her relationship with herself, her partner and her dreams. The songs drip with solitude and reflection, mirroring the time they were written – in the midst of 2020’s lockdown. Musically, Barron dips her toes deeper into electronic production, while maintaining her genuine songwriting style. At the end of the day, Barron isn’t writing about anything new; She’s writing about uncertainty, love, sex, and self-worth. But she’s doing it her way, hoping that it will inspire others to write their own stories as well.

Stay tuned for more exciting announcements throughout 2022 and around the release of Angel Numbers this August.
